"Countdown To Christmas" In A Twinkling!!

Why does Christmas always seem to come so quickly...every year I say, I'll be more organised and get the Christmas shopping done early, but every year is the same...last minute!!

But I'll always have time to quilt.... this here is my "Countdown to Christmas" Quilt, thanks to a wonderful pattern called "In A Twinkling" by 'Frivolous Necessity'. A great downloadable pattern, and very easy to follow, you can make one too...but maybe next year!!

The fabric range I used is called "Countdown to Christmas" and you can find it here, you can also purchase the pattern from here as well!!

Will post finished quilt...of course, when it's finished!!

Take Care

"Apples for Jam" Quilt finished...

Here is a picture of my "Apples for Jam" Quilt...why the name...I am inspired by the book "Apples for Jam" at the moment, the beautiful recipes and gorgeous pictures...

I choose the name because these fabrics look like Apples and Strawberry Jam... and not to mention this quilt was super easy!!

"Apples for Jam" Quilt...fresh and fabulous!!

I bought these fabrics the other day and have decided to do a quick block quilt using large strips surrounded by one of the other fabrics to make large rectangles. Then I plan to join them all together like bricks, using a half block to square of the edges. Will post pictures as it is getting stitched together.... but here are the fabrics, are they yummy!! The are Modern Meadow by Joel Dewberry and I got them from Hawthorne Threads and Fabric..

The Lyrebird at the Garden Gate Quilt

This is my latest creation..."The Lyrebird at the Garden Gate Quilt" using Tula Pink fabric range called "Plume", which is my most favourite fabric range!! I found the garden gate quilt design on "Hyacinth Quilt Designs" blog and thought, yes, this will do the fabric range justice and really make the colours of the fabrics 'pop'. I love this quilt....now off to the quilters I go!!

My Whimsical Garden

Here is a picture of my finished "My Whimsical Garden" quilt. I had an absolute blast making this quilt; to be able to use so many different colours and fabrics. I did try to use the fabrics only once throughout the quilt, but there are some double-ups, but only because I loved the fabric so much I had to use it twice... The quilt is from "Piece 'o' Cake" designs...

The Comfort Quilt.....finished...

Here it is...my "Comfort Quilt" is finished, and I love it!! Thanks Leanne for stepping out into a different colour way to create this beautiful quilt. Made especially for my room, I added a few extra blue, charcoal, and chocolate colours to compliment my bedroom and I think it has worked well!!

'Lorry's Flower Garden" Quilt...

It has finally made it - into "Country Threads' magazine, Vol 12 No 1. I sent this quilt off about 6 months ago to be in the magazine and it is finally in print!!

This quilt was created in remembrance of the garden I used to play in as a kid...at my Grandma's house...a garden full of lavender and stunning, fragrant roses....

Simple nine patch piecing and fairly easy applique work, made this quilt a joy to make.

I hope you all like it...

Until next time

"The Comfort Quilt"

I needed to make a quilt for our bedroom that would go with the blue, the linen and the provincial style that I was planning to create in our bedroom. I was looking through the latest issue of "Vignette" by Leanne Beasley, and I came across this quilt - "The Comfort Quilt". As soon as I saw it, I just knew this was the one I had to make.

So the following Saturday I was down at "Gail's Patchwork", buying my fabrics. This is the stack that I purchased...

Next came all the cutting, which I find I really enjoy doing, there is something very relaxing about it, laying all the strips into columns, they look kind of cool!

Now I've just got to work out in which order I will stitch them together...

Until next time,

Hexagon Quilt

I was inspired by Leanne Beasley's Hexagon Quilt in her second issue of "Vignette In Stitches" magazine, so I thought I would give it a go. There is something very therapeutic about stitching tiny hexagons together, something that I can take with me and stitch whenever; like at work during lunchtime. I have tried to be very disciplined and stitch together at least one full hexagon flower each lunchtime, so far I have made about 30 flowers, and I think they look really pretty. They are fun to stitch!!

My Whimsical Garden

Today is the day I begin putting together my 16 blocks of "My Whimsical Garden" quilt. All the blocks are appliqued separately and then stitched together with a chocolate brown sashing. This is the layout process of where I want all the blocks to be situated...a good hint is to take a photo of the layout and have a look at it on the computer to help you decide as to whether you are happy with the placement and to where the colours fall with each other...once you are happy, stitch them together.

Where To Get It!!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your lovely comments, I've had a few regarding where to get the fabrics and cosmos threads.

My fabrics are from "Patchwork with Gail B" in Bayswater, Victoria, and the threads were from "Cookies and Cream Craft", both of which you can buy in packs especially put together for this specific quilt. Just ask them for the "Vignette In Stitches" threads or fabric...

Hope this helps and that you all join the journey!!

Till next time,

"Vignette In Stitches"

Hi All,

I have started a journey...to make Leanne Beasley's "Vignette In Stitches" Block of the Month Quilt...it is so pretty and the fabrics and threads are gorgeous.

I have purchased everything and have been busy putting it all together, so that I can begin the stitching...which for me is good, because I love projects that are portable and you can take them everywhere...to work...to church...to stitch in's or craft groups...where ever and when ever...that way you get lots done!!

Here are some of my starting pictures.... hope you get inspired too....you can pick up a copy of Leanne's beautiful magazine "Vignette In Stitches" from Quilt Fabric Delights or Gail B's Patchwork Shop in Bayswater, Victoria...

Enjoy Your Journey...

Till Next Time...Stay Safe

Journalling My Quilts....

I have decided that this year, I am going to 'journal' all of the quilts that I make for the year. I am keeping samples of all the fabrics I use and making sure that I take photos of my progress as I make them. It will just remind me down the track how I made them, the fabric ranges that I used, inspiration, etc... I even found scrapbooking papers and embellishments to finish off the 'look' of the page.

Here are two of the quilts that I have made already this year.... and how I am going to 'journal' the quilts.

"The Conservatory" Quilt

"Dandelion Fields" Quilt

Hope you find some inspiration that will help you 'journal' your own work...for future generations to be able to see and appreciate!!

Happy Quilting

Parties, Engagements and Weddings...Plural!!

Well....I have come to the part of my life where I now have 2 children engaged and planning weddings in the near and distance future!!

It is a real exciting time in their lives as they follow their hearts and wishes for the perfect wedding and married life beyond that.

I have the pleasure of planning at least one of these weddings, as my eldest daughter is getting married in March 2012...my son is getting married in 2013, and maybe if I'm lucky I will be able to help out with that as well...but first things first!!

Planning can be fun or it can be stressful...I'm going for fun!!

Firstly, the engagement party for my daughter...retro inspired, rock'n'roll, 50's party theme...fun!!

I have been looking and buying things from all sorts of websites, that we need for the party and have found some rippers!! I'm not giving away too much...until after the event when I will post photos, but I will give an excellent website of some fun party gear...not only for engagements or weddings, but kids and adults alike....

Secret Stitching...

Over the past few weeks I have been busy stitching together a quilt to go off to 'Country Threads", so therefore can't show you any pictures, but it looks really good! I can say if you like applique you will enjoy it and if you like the colour purple and green, then you might just have to make it. So as soon as I can show you pictures I will, but look out for it in 'Country Threads" magazine sometime this winter!!
