Vintage Blooms...

I have recently started attending a class...once a month...on a Saturday morning...a class just for me to indulge in something that I love and don't get a lot of time to do...stitching and applique.

The quilt I am working on a block at a time is actually called "Funky Flowers" by Michelle McKillop. The original quilt is made in very bright colours, but I have decided to do it in more muted shades, reproduction fabrics and therefore I am calling it 'Vintage Blooms'.

I have finished the first block...

Summer Is For The Birds....

Summer and daylights savings seem to have an odd effect on the birds of our neighbourhood...they decide it is time to wake earlier than all of the rest of nature...including us humans!

But the sound reminds me that summer is fast approaching....

So I decided to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon making some little birds to put in my new birdcage...aren't they cute...and these ones don't chirp and sing in the morning..they just look cute...

Well, I can happily say that I am now on 3 weeks holidays...I am thoroughly exhausted and really tired today though as I am sure I will be for a few days...I have finished closing Lincraft at Knox and now I am home and ready to begin some new projects...holidays are great for starting new things, that I have held of for the last 6 months or so until I have had time to get it all together and begin...I am starting Nastassja's 21st birthday quilt, which is a black, red and white retro quilt, her 21st was in November last year...so it has taken awhile to get going...the fabrics are funky and so far I have done a few and they look great...I really happy with them...here is a photo of my work so far...

The Flying Teapot Cafe...

On Sunday 19th April I visited the eclectic and very visual cafe in the heart of Ballan, Victoria, about 20 minutes from Bacchus Marsh. Not only do they serve wonderful coffee and cake.. but in every room of this house/cafe..is a feast for the eyes.

In one room there is everything vintage...

In another room is a collection of costumes and decorated bras...left over from a recent exhibition...

But the best part is the garden...everywhere you walk and look...there are interesting mosiac walls, seats and collections...
