"Moulin Rouge"

I found this interesting quilt in a really old book I had...and it was made in horrid 70's fabric...so I decided to mix it up a little bit and using a bold red homespun fabric for the main and a bunch of Kaffe Fassett fabrics that I had just recently purchased and some other bold prints...I took on the challenge of re-inventing the quilt to give it a vibrant modern twist... hence calling it "Moulin Rouge"... here are some pictures so far...

Cutting out all the squares...

Stitching them all into pairs...
Attaching a triangle to complete the 80 finished squares...

Keep stitching and creating...
Until next time...

Kaffe Fassett Quilt - "Harmony"

I purchased these beautiful fabrics on a shopping expedition to "Sunspun" in Canterbury a few weeks back and have decided on a quilt to make using them, so that I get to put all the fabrics in the one quilt. I am calling it 'Harmony', because it uses a good balance of dark and light fabrics..

The first step is the cutting - 180 6" x 2.5" strips of light colours and 144 strips of 6" x 2.5" strips of dark colours. I ran out of fabric before I finished all the strips, so I have had to order some more Kaffe Fassett fabrics...

Next blog...stitching them together to create a very stunning quilt...

Until next time...
Happy Stitching...
